Cranberry Blueberry Smoothie

Lately, I have been pretty busy. For the past month I haven't been home. I have been either visiting family for the holidays or up in NY looking for homes (Chris and I are in the process of moving). I have been wanting to be more intentional about getting more raw fruits and veggies into my diet, so I have been incorporating smoothies into my breakfasts.

5 Low-Key & Simple Ways To Be Together

So the last few weeks have been pretty crazy for both Chris and I. We have been meaning to go on a dinner date for over a month and just haven't had time. Either one of us is working late or we are stuck in a meeting. So what do you do when you just don't have time to dress up a little, drive into the city, and sit in a nice restaurant for a couple hours? Well, I thought I would share a few low key ideas that might help to keep perspectives realistic, as well as ensure that being together, happens.

Capturing My Own Life - Solebury Orchard

As a photographer I find it so easy to capture important parts of the lives of others. I don't mind looking crazy just so that I can get the right shot. I don't mind being seen by others in a crowded area just so that I can create something different. But when it comes to my own life, I freeze up. I get really self conscious. I have found it much easier to just take my phone with me to capture a couple moments when I go somewhere, than bringing my big black machine.

Flatirons Boulder, CO

Just wanted to check in quickly and share some photos I took this morning while taking a hike with my brother up the Flatirons in Boulder, CO. I am out here in Colorado visiting him and his family. He planned to climb up a steep face with some friends and I decided to take the trail around to meet up. Me and heights aren't close buddies.

3 Ways to Embrace Change

I will probably be one of the first to say that I didn't always like change. It used to throw me off and make me respond rather dramatically as a kid. When my dad would get new glasses, I would be so upset and express how much I disliked them. It's now a few years later and I have learned a few tricks that have helped me to not get thrown off guard.

When You Just Need A Little Encouragement

I am obsessed with light. As a photographer I am always looking to see how it plays on my subjects. Even when I am trying to practice other skills in photography, like capturing shapes, I can't help but stop and shoot things like this tree branch and how the light penetrates its veins. Am I the only one that feels like this just grips my soul? My heart races with excitement when I see it. In these moments I feel a deep appreciation for God and the ability to see what He created. This is me in true worship.

Being "A Good Wife"

I love to browse recipes on Pinterest sometimes. I am even mesmerized by Tasty videos on Facebook. I will ponder thinking of making something healthy, like a kale salad, or something a little more decedent and really unnecessary, like a crumbly berry pie topped with fresh whipped cream. Mmmmm.... so good right? Those decisions that should be flooding my brain with creativity become short lived. My mind freezes. I panic. Then the guilt floods in as Chris leaves for work empty handed and has to pick something up at the Wawa at noon.

Traditional Oatmeal With Berries & Nuts

I have always been a hot cereal kind of girl. I remember being about 4 or 5 years old and wanting my mom to make this hot cereal called "Maypo" which is just instant hot cereal mixed with maple syrup. Though I love hot cereal I have become quite particular in the type of grain I use. A real snob actually. Haha. Right now I am into using Redmill's Gluten Free Quick Oats.

Rocky Mountain National Park, CO

So, while Chris and I were out in Colorado, my brother and his wife took me us out to see Rocky Mountain National Park despite the winter. Down in the valley of Denver, the temperature was in the 70s, but up in the mountains it was a bit cold. Still we saw some real beauty! I did alright in the altitude here, which I was happy about. I just thought I would share with you some of the beauty we got to see. It will make you want to visit. :) This here is a picture of a frozen lake.

Motherhood Through My Childless Eyes

I was talking to my friend through text about motherhood. I had just come back from visiting my brother's family and my new nephew. I experienced changing gross diapers for the first time, learned how to soothe the cries, and pretty much learned a lot besides being able to actually feed an infant. I expressed to my friend that I could actually picture myself as a mother after this experience.
